HackDecor is an independent online publication about making ordinary homes feel intentional. We write practical, tested guides on small-space living, interior styling, and affordable DIY upgrades for renters, first-time homeowners, and anyone who wants a calmer, better-organised home without a renovation budget.
What we cover
Our editorial focus is narrow on purpose. Every guide we publish belongs to one of these areas:
- Studio apartments — zoning, storage, and furniture that earns its floor space.
- Layouts and zoning — planning rooms so they work for how people actually live.
- Industrial and brick interiors — working with exposed materials without making a room feel cold.
- Sofas and seating — choosing, placing, and caring for the piece a living room is built around.
- Tables and DIY builds — coffee tables, side tables, and simple projects with realistic tool lists.
- Guest bedding — making a spare room or sofa bed genuinely comfortable for visitors.
How we work
We research each topic before writing it: manufacturer specifications, dimensions, material behaviour, and the practical constraints of real rooms. Where a claim depends on measurements or installation requirements, we say so plainly. We would rather publish a shorter guide that is correct than a longer one that is guesswork.
HackDecor is reader-supported. Some articles contain affiliate links, and we may earn a commission when a reader buys through them — at no extra cost to the reader. Affiliate relationships never determine what we recommend, and any sponsored content is labelled as such. Our full disclosure is set out in our Disclaimer.
Editorial independence and corrections
Commercial partners do not review articles before publication and cannot remove criticism. If you spot an error, a broken specification, or advice that no longer matches current products, tell us. We review corrections promptly and update the affected article, noting the change where it is material.
Who we are
HackDecor is written and edited by a small team of interior and DIY enthusiasts, supported by freelance contributors who specialise in specific areas such as small-space planning, textiles, and furniture construction. Every contributor is briefed on our standards before their first assignment.
